About this talk

On this episode of Life of a CISO, I make some predictions for 2021. My predictions over the years have almost always come true, although I’m not always right about the timing; some predictions came true much earlier or later than I predicted. For this year, I make some major predictions about responsibility and liability. The CISOs need to have a “seat at the table.” By that I mean the CISO, although it’s right there in the name “CHIEF information security officer,” is not always treated as an equal among the CEO, CFO, and other C-level employees. In 2021, I predict that this will change, and CISOs will be given their due. This is related to another prediction I make, which is that data liability and privacy laws will change in the US, and become much more stringent. The GDPR is a law for the European Union, although since data doesn’t recognize geographical borders, many web sites based in the US follow it. I would like to see the US pass the same law, recognizing that fact, that data doesn’t have physical boundaries. Leave a comment or question below, or even better, leave your prediction for 2021 in the comments section.
