About this talk

In this episode of Life of a CISO, we talk about why so many organizations are vulnerable to cyber attacks and ransomware specifically. SolarWinds was specifically targeted by criminals who wanted to get the best return on investment. They saw that SolarWinds had vulnerabilities that were possible to exploit, and were able to get inside. It didn’t take a montage of doing acrobatics to avoid laser beams, because, as far as security is concerned, they might as well have walked up to a house and looked under the mat for a key. Because while SolarWinds had security, they had gaps that were easy for professional hackers to exploit. If you don’t cover the basics--strong passwords, never opening email attachments, never patching, etc.-- You might as well leave the front door open and the passcode to the safe written down next to it. To learn more about what you can actually do to protect yourself, read my book, Cyber Crisis.
