This session is focused on providing guidance to chapters on how to implement study groups in their local area to aid individuals in obtaining their CISSP.

What happens when a few passionate chapter members decide to build something more than a meetup? You get BSides Tampa, a community-driven conference that has grown into one of the largest BSides events in the country.  In this panel discussion, members of the BSides Tampa Board will share the evolution of how they helped grow the event to over 2,300 participants this year. The conversation will highlight what it takes to organize and scale a major regional conference through community effort, including managing more than 100 volunteers, coordinating 13 Planning Committee Leads, securing 58 sponsors that continues to help us maintain the same ticket price for a decade, and delivering a weekend of impactful talks, valuable trainings, engaging CTFs, and interactive hands-on learning experiences.  We will provide practical tips and tricks for chapters looking to get started, including how to launch a smaller local conference, and share the common pitfalls to avoid along the way. ISC2 offers valuable opportunities for chapters through our programs and initiatives to engage and contribute to our mission. As part of our commitment to increase inclusion and build a more robust, resilient and diverse cybersecurity workforce, ISC2’s 1MCC program continues to offer FREE Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) Online Self-Paced Training and exams to one million people. Thus far, we’ve pledged half of the commitment – 500,000 course enrollments and exams – to this effort. Through this session you will learn how ISC2 works closely with chapters as part of this program to reach populations underrepresented in cybersecurity. Also in this session, learn about ISC2’s upcoming 50x50 initiative aimed at unlocking 100% of cyber talent by increasing women’s representation in the sector.
