About this talk

After a hugely volatile year for markets, investors were looking forward to a relative normalisation in 2022. But with macroeconomic issues such as inflation, labour shortages and supply chain bottlenecks all unresolved from 2021, it seems that markets could be in for another rough ride in 2022. Add to this the threat posed by the Omicron variant, which could still derail the pace of the reopening of the economy that we had expected, and visibility is not at all what we had hoped it would be. From a thematic perspective we will be looking specifically at our recent research on the demand for oil, both in terms of our forecasts for 2022, which we see exceeding pre-pandemic levels, and longer term, where we believe that markets are too pessimistic around the prospects for the sector. With energy currently the cheapest sector in the market this could be a key area of opportunity for investors! Some key highlights to look forward to: • We will look at major price movements across the EMEA coverage universe and opportunities this has thrown up • How sector valuations have shifted over the last quarter, and where we see value • Relative valuation of the European market versus other regions • Our top stock picks across the European coverage universe
