To spark innovation and improve scalability of its network services, Finnish telecommunications company Elisa sought to extend its cloudification efforts to radio access networks (RANs). In 2024, Elisa, Nokia, and Red Hat collaborated to evaluate the maturity, impact, and benefits of a joint 5G Cloud RAN-based implementation compared to Elisa’s legacy radio network.
