The devops movement transformed system administration--once manual, painstaking work--into scalable software. One of the key breakthroughs: developing a common way to "script" behaviors across a whole set of tools so as to create coherent end-to-end workflows for their users (software developers). In the modern data stack we haven't gotten there yet, and a proliferation of disconnected tools is one of the drags on the productivity of data professionals—even those with cutting-edge tooling. Is there a path towards changing this?
