The Economics of Azure VMware Solution

Presented by

Wayne Richard, Cloud Economics Strategist AVS, VMware

About this talk

This session will convey the economic benefits of Azure VMware Solution. The presenter will show the savings averages of 22% compared to on-premises and 32% compared to Azure IaaS. The main drivers for achieving savings are sizing appropriately for the cloud, taking advantage of the cloud supply chain, oversubscription of CPU and Memory, and shifting facilities and lifecycle costs of the SDDC to Microsoft. Microsoft software license benefits also contribute to overall cost savings by offering free extended support updates for end-of-life software, Windows Server portability, licensing by physical core, and support for Office 365 downloadable in VDI scenarios. Operational benefits also contribute to overall cost savings. HCX can dramatically improve migrations time and reduce complexity, risk, and downtime. Many third-party tools can also continue to be used such as backup, monitoring, disaster recovery as well as various security software.
