Join us for our new MarkLogic Community Program, designed to bring together MarkLogic experts, customers, partners, and future MarkLogic innovators. Joining us during these monthly webinars will be our team of expert MarkLogic engineers and developers, along with industry leaders, to discuss the latest innovations in our data platform.
This month features our long-time customer The Incorporated Council of Law Reporting for England & Wales – which is the official publisher of the Law Reports which record leading court cases as relied on by all judges, lawyers, and students of law. Presenting will be Paul Magrath, Head of Product Development and Online Content at ICLR. He is responsible for the development of their legal information database, which offers digital versions of the reports published since 1865 along with many other cases and legislation. In 2016 this was migrated to Mark Logic in a development carried out by 67 Bricks. In 2021 ICLR launched Case Genie, an AI-driven search facility that analyses a legal text uploaded by the user and recommends relevant and linked cases of which the user may not be aware. Paul will be discussing this and other recent developments and the challenges facing ICLR in an increasingly competitive environment.
Also joining us will be Frank Blau, a Sr. Principal Data Architect at EBCONT ProConsult. He describes his presentation below.
To understand the value of a multi-model database like MarkLogic from both a technical and business perspective, it is important to have a compelling story to show how it can add value to a data management organization. In my recreational study of the media theories of Marshall
McLuhan, I have found a powerful narrative that can bridge the gap between the theory and technical perspectives that multi-model data can address. In this talk, I will describe how McLuhan’s quip “the medium is the message” can frame a strong use case for the use of MarkLogic in a project.
