The council’s Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) defines a set of security standards to ensure the protection of cardholder data. One of the standards defines the Personal Identification Number (PIN) Security requirements. It specifies controls for the secure management, processing, and transmission of PIN data during online and offline payment card transaction processing at ATMs and point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
