About this talk

There are many reasons why companies have not been successful in realising their often ambitious strategies for data, Yet the one that often emerges as the key bottleneck is data management. A recent survey undertaken by IDC discovered that 62% of organisations say they have problems leveraging their data due to a lack of proper data access governance. This podcast will examine why accessing data has become such a key issue, looking at how the implementation of multiple cloud data platforms has made it increasingly difficult for companies to secure data access for the right people in their organisations. It looks at how this will be a growing problem and will create tension between C-level executives pushing for more widespread use of data and data professionals aware of the challenges they face in managing data. Yet the article will look at a potential solution - how modern ways of dealing with data access, such as a high-confidence attribution-based approach, will enable organisations to move from a default “no” to a default “yes”, enabling more teams to gain value from their data.
