About this talk

One of the most complex issues for both data specialists and C-level executives is ensuring that their data policies comply with global data mandates. Regional divergences in data privacy, security and placement/use/disclosure can cause serious issues especially for companies with a global footprint. A recent report from IDC found that European organisations will spend 10% of their ICT budget to develop infrastructure, data, processes, governance frameworks and skills to adhere to the digital sovereignty principles adopted in the EU. A significant portion of this budget will go to updating data governance/management and to new tools to manage/orchestrate/secure data in a compliant way. Ultimately, by 2025, IDC predicts that as many as 80% of enterprises will need to restructure their data governance processes built on an autonomic foundation. This podcast will take a long look at the various regulations that govern data use and how companies need to respond to ensure that they comply. It will also examine how complex data management shouldn't be seen as a barrier to innovation. And how far-sighted enterprises will use data sovereignty (such as GDPR) and digital sovereignty to create an autonomic foundation for resources using data control planes/data fabrics.
