Panelists from WEKA, Ad Signal and Storj. Moderated by Dom Robinson, Founder - Greening of Streaming

About this talk

Demand for cloud storage has surged due to global content production, sharing, streaming, and distribution. However, cloud adoption comes with financial and environmental costs. Access and storage costs are not always transparent or predictable while some projections suggest that new data centres alone could contribute 14% of global CO2 emissions by 2040. This session will explore innovative approaches to managing cloud storage and production that, through the shift from a capex to opex cost model and making remote and collaborative working a viable option, can unlock opportunities for smaller independent studios while limiting the industry’s carbon footprint. Panelists Barbara Murphy, Vice President - Cloud Strategy - WEKA Tom Dunning, CEO & Founder - Ad Signal Rosie Pongracz, Chief Marketing Officer - Storj Dom Robinson, Founder - Greening of Streaming Recorded at IBC on 15th September 2024. In the cloud and AI era, these should be foundational elements to every data environment – not points of compromise. That’s why we’re building an entirely new data management approach designed to support next-generation workloads flawlessly.
