Research: The Acceleration of Cloud-Based Technology Adoption in Healthcare

Healthcare providers are constantly working to provide better patient care, and many have found that cloud-based technologies aid them in that goal. Hospitals, health systems, and provider practices have tailored technology to their unique needs by acquiring the support and power of an extensive cloud-based technology system. To understand the rate of technology adoption and reasons for modernization at healthcare providers, AWS Marketplace commissioned Xtelligent Healthcare Media to conduct a survey of leaders at hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, and other provider organizations. Over 150 expert respondents from these groups participated in the survey and shared information about their cloud-based tools. Research findings showed that healthcare providers are rapidly adopting cloud-based technology and that the healthcare cloud will dominate the health information technology market in the near future. Results also demonstrated that the use cases for cloud-based tools differed by organization type.
