Standardization of OT and IoT is critical to successful adoption of digital transformation within intelligent buildings, factories and process plants. Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) is an enabling technology that can standardize disparate systems within digital buildings and industrial plants, while dramatically simplifying the physical layer necessary to take advantage of the benefits of Ethernet.
SPE and the Advanced Physical Layer (Ethernet-APL) provides the ability to operate a single, seamless network from cloud to edge within Process IoT. New variants of power over Ethernet (PoE and SPoE) that deliver power over longer distances provide more options to simplify deployment of intelligent field devices and sensors in intelligent buildings.
