Innovations in Mobile Authentication

Ran Tamir; SafeNet, Senior Product Manager, Authentication
In response to ever-increasing and more sophisticated security threats, companies are recognizing the need to move beyond usernames and passwords and implement two-factor authentication to secure access to their network applications and databases. Globalization and the growing trend of more employees and partners working remotely present a unique challenge to these companies who must strike a balance between security, cost, and managing more complex IT needs. Software authentication can help address this challenge by enabling two factor authentication on mobile devices – so remote workers can securely access their email and other applications from anywhere by generating a unique one-time password on their phones. This webinar will discuss the latest innovations in software authentication including SMS and Out-of-Band (OOB) options, and highlight several use cases on how these solutions are being implemented today to help move productivity and security forward in a cost-effective way.

  • As a security professional, you are on constant alert for external threats. But many breaches are caused internally by incorrect configuration of IT resources, including SSL. To help improve how encryption is used, Qualys created a research project called SSL Labs to address two major problems of the ecosystem: lack of tools and documentation.
  • As organizations work hard to ensure complete anti-malware coverage on desktops, servers, and at the perimeter, attackers are already moving on to techniques completely outside those detected by traditional security tools. Enterprises must consider alternative approaches to defending their infrastructure and turn their focus to tools, products and techniques that approach security in new and different ways.

In this webinar, Eric and Dave will discuss:

    • How the volume of system alerts from Network Security solutions are creating lots of noise but lack context to focus on the real threats facing your data
    • How to stop advanced threats – with no advance knowledge of the tools or malware – by following the attack sequence
    • Why bridging the gap between system security and data protection is the key to stopping ever increasing sophisticated attackers from stealing your data
  • Sutter Health is a not-for-profit health system serving more than 100 communities in Northern California. Each year its 5,000 physicians care for more than 10 million outpatient visits and discharge more than 200,000 in-patients.

  • Busting the Top 5 Myths of Protecting Data in Motion Recorded: Oct 8 2014 59 mins
Stan Mesceda, Product Manager of High Speed Encryption, SafeNet
Fibre tapping is on the increase due to the high success rate currently enjoyed by cyber criminals targeting data in motion. A recent survey* conducted by Trustwave and published in their 2013 global security report, found that “Attackers were more successful at maintaining persistence and harvesting data in transit than they were at attacking stored data. Despite this a recent Spiceworks survey* of IT pros found that “29% of respondents are not encrypting ANY data in motion.”

Add to this that high profile fibre tapping cases are becoming public news and increasing, and all of this contributes to the real need to protect data in motion from cyber threats.

By protecting the data itself with encryption you render it useless to a 3rd party, but as with all technology applied to a business need, this brings about some common myths.

Join this live webinar and hear Stan Mesceda, Senior Product Manager, High Speed Encryption, de-mystify the top 5 most common myths about protecting data in motion, listed below:

•Ethernet is inherently secure/Fibre is not tappable
    •VPN/MPLS/IPSEC doesn't affect performance
•My carrier is required to let me know if my data is breached
    •Encryption is complicated
•Encryption is only affordable for the big guys

Then following this discussion, learn about the business and technology benefits of encryption data in motion.
