A Holistic Approach to Next-Generation Data Center Architecture

Presented by

Chris Wiborg, Enterprise Architecture Marketing Manager, Cisco

About this talk

How can you achieve the vision of “infrastructure-as-a-service”? Taking a holistic approach to virtualization can help IT meet the demands of better, faster, and cheaper while laying the foundation for a dynamic, responsive infrastructure. Beyond today’s focus on server virtualization, the network plays a key role as the only element that connects and enables communications between all data center components. While it’s natural to start with the endpoints, you should also think from the inside out, and consider the network’s role in enabling the next-generation virtualized data center. The network provides virtualization of network services themselves and the ability to accelerate and scale adoption of server virtualization technology and techniques. This session examines end-to-end data center virtualization from an architectural perspective and will show attendees how established and emerging network technologies can help trim costs, ensure operational continuity, and promote business agility as part of a comprehensive, well-architected plan for the next-generation data center.
