To Lose One Set of Data May Be Regarded As Misfortune...

The paraphrasing of Oscar Wilde may seem apposite, but in actuality, the loss of even one set of data will look more like carelessness - and will have legal and brand ramifications. As data is moved from our direct control through to the cloud, the perception is that security issues become more complex, and that different approaches have to be taken to ensure that data does not leak anywhere along the value chain. This presentation will look at where data leak prevention and allied technologies apply in both the cloud and in on-premise solutions, and will highlight how suitable approaches can lead to a user enabled environment, rather than a "walled garden" constrained system".

Clive Longbottom is Service Director for Business Processes Facilitation for Quocirca Ltd, a leader in Business and IT analysis in Europe. In this position, Clive covers the needs for companies to understand the core processes in their value chains, and the technologies that should be utilized to facilitate these processes in the most flexible and effective manner. Within his remit, Clive covers collaborative tools, workflow, business process discovery and management tools, service-based architectures and outsourcing, as well as other associated areas such as security, voice/data convergence and IT asset optimization.

  • Defending from Crypto-Jacking, Ransomware & Worming Malware's Frightening Future May 3 2018 5:00 pm UTC 45 mins
Jay Beale, Co-founder, COO & CTO, InGuardians
In the last six months, crypto-mining malware and crypto-jacking have taken center stage in cybercrime news. We’ll discuss the most recent events and see how this links to ransomware, which dominated the cybercrime news last year, where one outbreak cost seven companies over one billion dollars.

Both crypto-mining malware and ransomware, aside from gathering headlines, demonstrate that cybercriminals and nation state actors are building capabilities for worming malware that could have the ability to do far greater damage than has yet been seen.

Come to this talk, learn what’s been going on, where it’s likely going, and how to avoid being a victim of a headline-generating event.

    About the Speaker:
Jay Beale created two tools used by hundreds of thousands of individuals, companies and governments, Bastille Linux and the Center for Internet Security’s first Linux/UNIX scoring tool. He has led training classes on Linux security at the Black Hat, CanSecWest, RSA, and IDG conferences, as well as in private corporate training, since 2000.
