Fixed Mobile Convergence and Mobile Unified Communications

Presented by

About this talk

Mobility is one of the most important topics in enterprise communications today, and one of the cornerstones of unified communications. These solutions began with fixed mobile convergence systems that could merge the wired desk set, voice over WLAN capability, and a cellular service with the ability to transparently handoff calls between them. However, those solutions have now moved beyond simple voice call integration to include text, presence, collaboration and the full range of unified communications capabilities.Equipment vendors and cellular carriers have introduced a number of solutions that provide a mix of these capabilities, however the range of options has left buyers confused. This session is designed to provide enterprise buyers with the essential background they will need to evaluate fixed-mobile convergence and mobile unified communications options intelligently. We begin by defining FMC, identifying the user benefits, and then describe the major product and service options that exist. In each case we will discuss how well each of these solutions mesh with the user objectives. The goal is to provide the background buyers will need to understand and assess their options for an integrated fixed-mobile UC solution.

Unified communications simplifies and integrates all forms of communications within the enterprise. By ‘unifying’ phone, e-mail, chat, voice mail, fax and other key processes related to internal and external communication, you can automate all forms of human and device communications into a common user experience. As a result, organizations will optimize business processes, enhance human communications, reduce latency and manage flows while eliminating device and media dependencies.
