What’s wrong with this picture? We think in terms of rigid processes because we’ve been taught that they give us more predictability. We focus on IT service management from a provider’s perspective because we’re IT service providers. We work in silos because they give managers the illusion of importance and control. Slowly but surely, people seem to be realizing that it’s time for a radial rethink. All too often, we look at new things in old ways and are disappointed, rather than attempting to look at old things in new ways. But what constitutes “new ways”? This webinar explores topics such as complex adaptive systems, service-dominant logic, the overhyped but valuable DevOps movement and the value of values in encouraging people to change their ways. It makes the case for a more enlightened way of looking at IT. The presentation highlights Schuberg Philis as a good example of an organization that has invested heavily in values as guiding principles. This innovative IT outsourcing services company in the Netherlands states “Anyone can do anything within our organization as long as it is in line with our guiding principles”. Their strategy has proved to be successful and the Harvard Business School published a case study about their culture and governance style.   Bio’s Lotta Croiset van Uchelen works at Schuberg Philis both as part of the marketing team and as the in-house counsellor. She has a background in IT, economics and psychotherapy. Mark Smalley is an IT Management Consultant at Smalley.IT and is specialized in Application Management and Business Information Management.
