Casting a Wider Net: Creating a Framework to Include All of IT

Presented by

Lisa Perri, VMware Senior Service Manager, VMware

About this talk

With leaps in IT technology since the release of ITIL V3, two distinct areas in IT requiring greater inclusion in the framework are application management and end-user computing. While IT as a Service is clearly addressed in ITIL today, there are critical changes in IT which require casting a wider net. Cloud or Infrastructure as a Service changes how infrastructure is deployed and used (both internally and externally). Platform as a Service fundamentally changes how applications are consumed from development through retirement, and finally end users demand the flexibility of Software as a Service, all while the organization retains smarter controls over their IT environments. An update to the ITIL framework must take a truly holistic view towards IT’s management of all the AAS’s: ITaaS and some of the sub-services upon which services are built; IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. In this webinar, Lisa Perri of VMware looks at the process areas where application management and end-user computing must be included to increase overall productivity and decrease the burden on IT. About your speaker: Lisa Perri began researching ITIL adoption in the US in 2000 as an industry analyst. Since then, she’s researched, written about, and marketed IT service management solutions in a variety of incarnations.
