About this talk

With the acceleration of digital initiatives, cloud adoption, and workforce mobility, the traditional approach of enabling access and backhauling traffic to one data center location can no longer meet the fast-changing business needs of today’s digital world. Nowadays, users, applications, data, and workloads are everywhere. To optimize business continuity and address evolving security challenges, organizations need to transform their networking and security architecture to allow secure access and optimal connectivity for users, devices, and applications. The transformation helps reduce or eliminate their dependence on traditional WAN and appliance-based security architecture for a lower total cost of ownership (TCO), better performance, and user experience. However, there is a lot of confusion, doubt and misconception about secure access service edge (SASE) among Asia Pacific organizations. A small study by Frost & Sullivan showed that most customers are still confused and do not fully understanding SASE. Thirty-six percent of them said that SASE is just another term for cloud-delivered security services, while 19% of them have a better understanding that SASE is a cloud-based architecture that offers network and security services to protect users, applications and data, regardless of locations. Many indicated that they have been using SASE and are planning to use it in the next few years. Though this may not be a full SASE model, it also indicates that organizations in APAC are willing to use the SASE concept and are ready to transition to this new architecture.
