Five Reasons the Enterprise Needs HPC Technology

Up until the past year or two, High-Performance Compute (HPC) environments and the enterprise data center have been separate domains. But now the data-intensive demands of analytics, migrations to cloud infrastructures and ever growing numbers of users looking to store large quantities of data are making the enterprise data center demand high-performance and scalability previously common only in HPC and Web provider environments. Not only are companies implementing HPC specific jobs like Big Data Analytics and geographic data distribution but virtualized and database environments are being challenged to increase density to support more users at lower operational costs. Should the traditional data center look at HPC storage solutions to meet these demands?

Join Storage Switzerland and Data Direct Networks (DDN) to learn five reasons HPC storage is ideal for enterprises. In this webinar we will compare the needs of the enterprise data center to the capabilities of HPC storage to see if HPC is the ideal fit for the enterprise.

    Storage Switzerland, Unitrends
Is your organization ready for any disaster 2018 may throw at it? Organizations not only face new threats they also encounter decreased tolerance for downtime from users. The good news is there are plenty of new solutions that claim to improve an organization’s ability to recover from a disaster. But which one makes the most sense for your organization? And what about your processes? Recovery technology needs to partner with solid DR processes in order for an organization to see its way through the challenges ahead.

  • Unprotected Files on a Public Cloud Server: Live Panel on the NSA Data Leak Recorded: Dec 8 2017 59 mins
Chris Vickery, George Crump, David Linthicum, Charles Goldberg, Mark Carlson
Public, private and hybrid cloud are nothing new, but protecting sensitive data stored on these servers is still of the utmost concern. The NSA is no exception.

It recently became publicized that the contents of a highly sensitive hard drive belonging to the NSA (National Security Agency) were compromised. The virtual disk containing the sensitive data came from an Army Intelligence project and was left on a public AWS (Amazon Web Services) storage server, not password-protected.

This is one of at least 5 other leaks of NSA-related data in recent years. Not to mention the significant number of breaches and hacks we’ve experienced lately, including Yahoo!, Equifax, WannaCry, Petya, and more.

The culprit in this case? Unprotected storage buckets. They have played a part in multiple other recent exposures, and concern is on the rise. When it comes to storing data on public cloud servers like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Rackspace and more, what are the key responsibilities of Storage Architects and Engineers, CIOs and CTOs to avoid these types data leaks?

Tune in with Chris Vickery, Director of Cyber Risk Research at UpGuard and the one who discovered the leak, along with George Crump, Chief Steward, Storage Switzerland, David Linthicum, Cloud Computing Visionary, Author & Speaker, Charles Goldberg, Sr. Director of Product Marketing, Thales e-Security, and Mark Carlson, Co-Chair, SNIA Technical Council & Cloud Storage Initiative, for a live panel discussion on this ever-important topics.
  • All-Flash in 2018 - What You Need to Know Recorded: Dec 7 2017 57 mins
    Storage Switzerland, Tegile Systems
The All-Flash era is well upon us, and most data centers consider an all-flash product storage tier both realistic and practical. But the flash industry continues to march on. New technologies like NVMe and ultra high-density flash modules promise to continue all-flashes march to data center dominance. Join us for this live webinar and we will help you design your plan for 2018.

  • Three Steps to Eliminating Storage Silos Recorded: Nov 16 2017 51 mins
    Storage Switzerland, Nexsan
As an organization grows the number of use cases the data center needs to support increases with it. What starts out as a NAS for file sharing, moves to a SAN for database applications, and then storage for data protection. As the organization hits full stride it might look at arching to limit growth and a mobility solution to support a distributed workforce. The problem is each one of these storage types are silo’ed and have to be implemented, operated and maintained separately. As a result, storage ends up consuming a large chunk of the IT budget.

  • How to Create A Two Tier Enterprise With All-Flash and Object Storage Recorded: Nov 9 2017 54 mins
    Storage Switzerland, Tegile Systems
The only problem with the all-flash data center is most of the data (as much as 85%) organizations store is not accessed in more than a year. Assuming there is a more cost effective way to store that data it should be stored on something else. Object storage seems like an obvious choice. Object storage is very cost effective and has features designed for long-term retention. Instead of a single-tier data center, organizations should look to create a two-tier enterprise, and in this webinar we will show you how.

  • Hitting Your Data Protection Sweet Spot Recorded: Sep 26 2017 58 mins
    Storage Switzerland, Carbonite
The data protection process sometimes has objectives that seem to be in opposition to one another. On one side, the organization needs rapid and frequent data captures so that RPOs and RTOs are met. On the other side, there is a need for cost effective long term retention so that the organization is protected from ransomware. Finding the right balance between these extremes is called hitting the data protection sweet spot. In this live webinar, experts from Storage Switzerland and Carbonite will help you get there.
  • The Four Requirements of a Cloud-Era File System Recorded: Sep 21 2017 63 mins
    Storage Switzerland, Nasuni
File systems are the heart of most organizations. They’re how critical unstructured data assets are stored, organized, and shared. But with files exploding in size and quantity as well as the cloud offering potentially cheaper and more scalable storage than traditional NAS, a new set of requirements is needed. Is your file system ready? Find out in this live webinar.
  • DRaaS - It’s Not Just For Disasters Anymore Recorded: Sep 12 2017 60 mins
