Server side solid state storage is the storage performance equivalent to a surgical strike. It places storage performance right where the problem is, the server or host having to respond to workload or application demands. Over the last few years PCIe SSD has emerged as the performance solution but the state of server side SSD is changing. Drive form factor SSDs like IBM’s recently announced offering of SMART Storage Systems’ Optimus SSD are out to prove that drive form factor SSDs can provide a superior alternative to PCIe based solutions.

In this webinar Storage Switzerland will explore the state of server side SSD and IBM will detail its SMART Storage Systems’ Optimus SSD announcement.

All pre-registrants will get an advanced copy of Storage Switzerland’s latest report “Buying SSDs: What's More Important $ per GB Stored or $ per TB Written?”

  • Designing Flexibility into your Data Center Power Infrastructure Designing Flexibility into your Data Center Power Infrastructure Stephen Worn, CTO DataCenterDynamics; Jawahar Swaminathan, Raritan Recorded: May 4 2016 60 mins
As power density is rapidly increasing in today’s data center, provisioning the right amount of power to the rack without under sizing or over provisioning the power chain has become a real design challenge.

Managing the current and future power needs of the data center requires Cap-Ex to deploy a flexible power infrastructure: safely handling peak power demands, balancing critical loads and easily scaling to meet growing power needs.

In this webinar you will learn:
    > How to create Long term power flexibility and improved availability for your operation
    > How to increase energy efficiency and improve SLAs through a comprehensive set of best practices.
  • Active Archive: Build Accessible, Responsive Archives with Cloud Scale Economics Active Archive: Build Accessible, Responsive Archives with Cloud Scale Economics Brian Bashaw, Technical Lead - HGST & Jeff Tabor, Sr. Director - Avere Systems Recorded: May 4 2016 62 mins
Creating a digital archive that is both accessible and cost effective may seem like an impossible task. While public and private clouds may offer cost-effective scalable storage that is perfect for protecting assets, planning for responsive accessibility, and flexibility can be challenging. To evaluate these hybrid storage models, you must understand object storage and options for file access.

    In this webinar, you’ll discover:
•The fundamentals of cloud archives including terminology and core technology
•Why hybrid clouds are a smart option for petabyte-scale archives and how to describe the overall use and economic value to others
•What digital data is appropriate for cloud archiving
•How transition from a legacy storage environment to a public/private hybrid cloud model
•How to enable the active archive to monetize digital assets

For these valuable archives, moving to cloud storage is a big decision, but one that can come with big rewards, like cost efficiency, scalability, and accessibility. These industry experts will provide education, use case examples, and most importantly, answer your questions.

Traditionally, when people talk about data protection, they’re talking about some form of backup. However, if those backups effectively end up in a “write-only memory”, they’re not much good. So really, the bottom line is recovery is what people are most concerned about when they talk about data protection. With the degree to which today’s technologies have been refined and the plethora of data protection platforms available, users should maintain a baseline set of simple expectations to be met no matter who or what they choose for the job. In this presentation, Taneja Group and Dave LeClair of Unitrends will discuss the “New Rules for Recovery” that everyone’s solution should adhere to.
