  • Take Your Network Management Through A Digital Transformation Aug 5 2020 10:00 am UTC 60 mins
    LINX (London Internet Exchange)
It’s no secret that there has been a huge increase and reliance on the Internet from all areas, including enterprise, to host, run and deliver business. With business being both internal and customer facing, the service needs to be fast, secure and cost effective all round. LINX’s model can certainly assist organisations in the finance sector achieve that.

Modern financial services need to provide a slick experience to users – without compromising security, reliability or control. But if you rely on conventional internet traffic management, you have no way to control how data moves from A to B. If your data takes a complex route, it could make your digital services slower, less secure, unreliable and more expensive to maintain. Peering with networks at LINX can offer the control you need, helping you connect directly to ISPs and customers to get precise control over your data.

    What will the webinar discuss?
    - Benefits of an Internet Exchange / Intro to LINX and the benefits of peering
    - How organisations can take control of their data and increase productivity and security
    - London, a key interconnection hub and the opportunities of interconnection

    From this webinar, attendees will be able to;
    - Understand where their data could be going
    - Understand how joining LINX could see improved latency, network control and better end user experiences

  • The Importance of Network Resilience: Keeping Systems Running During A Crisis Recorded: Jul 9 2020 57 mins
    Alan Stewart-Brown, VP EMEA, Opengear
As organisations add layers of complexity to networks, often resulting in more vulnerabilities, network resilience must be considered at all stages of a deployment. Couple this with a pandemic and other crisis scenarios from cyber-attacks to natural disasters and there is a higher premium than ever on secure remote access and network resilience to ensure business continuity.

As the market leader in Out-of-Band management, and with the recent addition of NetOps automation tools to the company’s Network Resilence Platform, Alan Stewart-Brown will be outlining how to build a resilient network - one that delivers secure ‘virtual hands’ remote access and automation for Day 1 provisioning, ongoing maintenance and emergency access to organisations’ critical IT infrastructure. Alan will also be sharing highlights from a recent independent global study of 500 senior IT decision-makers ‘Measuring the True Cost of Network Outages’.

    Join the webinar to:
•Explore why downtime happens & what the true cost of network outages are
•Discover the benefits Smart Out-of-Band and NetOps bring from:
othe ability to access, troubleshoot and fix a critical device during a 3am network outage in ‘Timbuktu’ - all from the safety of your laptop/device
oto securely locking down parts of your system in the event of a cyber attack
othrough to securely & remotely provisioning 1000s of new infrastructure devices simultaneously without requiring ‘smart hands’ on the ground
•Find out the networking issues keeping 500 senior IT decision-makers awake at night, in new independent research ‘Measuring The True Cost of Network Outages’

  • Best Practices For Architecting Robust BGP Routing Policies Recorded: Jun 25 2020 57 mins
Shawn Morris, VP - Systems, Applications, and Software, Global IP Network at NTT
BGP disruptions happen frequently, generally by accident. But BGP can be hijacked for more malicious intent such as spying, data interception, or as a sort of denial of service attack. It is estimated that so far about half of the internet is more protected due to heavy hitters like NTT Ltd.’s Global IP Network division adopting BGP improvements.

So, what actually makes good routing policies "good"?

The telecoms industry has mostly focused on teaching each other how to implement BGP features in their networks, but there has been very little dialogue on how to design robust policies. Many global carriers do not even educate their customers on how to use and take advantage of them. In this webinar, NTT and the Global IP Network will offer a conceptual model to look at routing policies, offer terminology to help discuss them, and analyze routing policy design patterns and best practices.

    Join the webinar to:
•Understand the basic concepts of BGP
•Learn best practices to build robust BGP Routing Policies
•Review the experience of NTT and the Global IP Network

Shawn Morris originally joined NTT as an IP engineer for the Global IP Network in 1999. Over time he rose to the role of Sr. Director of IP Development, overseeing network architecture and testing and qualification of IP and DWDM network technologies. In his current role as VP of Systems, Applications, and Software, he oversees the development of the Global IP Network’s industry-leading SDN controller (GUMS), His organization is also responsible for developing the company’s contributions to open source networking tools (IRRd v4, BGPalerter) and in-house network insight and big data tools.
