Mark Smalley, The IT Paradigmologist
The title ‘Kill DevOps’ refers to an ancient Zen saying about a monk’s journey towards enlightenment and awakening. If you think that you’ve found it, think again, because you never will. It’s the same with DevOps: it’s about continuous experimentation and learning.
DevOps brought Agile’s value proposition closer to the users by speeding up deployment (and more!). Yet no value is realized until the users actually use well-conceived systems well. This is often the weakest link, so we need to extend our reach. The presentation offers a definition of DevOps in terms of cultural norms, technical practices and architecture, referring to the recently published DevOps Handbook. It also covers multidisciplinary collaboration, the relationship between Agile and DevOps, and ‘selling’ DevOps to senior executives.
