The Climate Action series webinar on 'Mobilising private finance: Can COP28 deliver more than COP27?' took place on Wednesday 1 February 2023. We were delighted to have been joined by such an esteemed list of speakers and panelists. We've summarised some of the key topics and themes here: • Private finance from asset managers and owners has a vital role to play in accelerating the energy transition and helping communities justly adapt to physical climate change. • Private finance is not a panacea and cannot substitute for inadequate government action to appropriately regulate emitting activities and incentivise the creation of climate solutions. • After a disappointing COP27, COP28 will be a critical test case for the global community’s ability to translate promises into concrete, credible action to close the ambition, credibility, justice and ambition gaps that are still far too large.
