Investment Outlook 2024

Latest inflation figures paved the way for the Chancellor to justify tax cuts and a raft of pension reforms. In response, experts from abrdn looked at the current global economic outlook with a focus on inflation and recession expectations in 2024, followed by a review of the many changes announced in the Autumn Statement and implications for DB schemes.

Where now for DB schemes?

Investing in Infrastructure has a number of attractions for pension funds. These include steady and predictable returns, inflation linked revenues and a low correlation to other asset classes. In addition, the long life of Infrastructure assets coupled with the lengthy term contracts in place makes an allocation well suited to institutional investors.

Regulation and member interest is driving the requirement to integrate Environmental, Social and Governance considerations into investments, including Infrastructure.
