Presented by

About this talk

For many organizations software asset management (SAM), alternatively known as software license management (SLM), has long been on the enterprise IT to-do-list. In 2012, IT organizations are finally waking up to the fact that they are wasting a significant amount of their IT funding each year either on unnecessary new license procurement, on support and maintenance for more licenses than they actually need/use, on “shelf-ware,” or on internally-supporting and hosting software that should have been “decommissioned.” And compliance is still important too, with the consensus that software vendors have increased software audits post financial crisis as new sales revenues have suffered. Join us and guest speaker, Eveline Oehrlich, VP and Research Director at Forrester Research, Inc. to discuss the opportunities and benefits of SAM, such as reducing costs, improving governance, mitigating risk and ensuring compliance, improving organizational efficiency, and delivering higher-quality IT services. We’ll also explore many of the challenges Forrester sees with corporate SAM programs from “getting started,” to balancing people, process, and technology, to the complexity of new technology licensing models. Would you pass a software audit? Really?
