Index tracking challenges: Your 3-point withholding tax checklist

In a series of four short webcasts Jason Humphrey, Product Director for Fidelity's Index Funds, discusses four factors that can impact an index fund's ability to track an index. The fourth webcast of the series considers the impact of index variants and withholding tax. A fund’s withholding tax treatment can have a significant impact on tracking difference; some funds can gain an apparent advantage by measuring against an index that has a less preferential tax treatment. Jason outlines a three point checklist to help investors judge whether the tax treatment of the index a fund is tracking is a fair comparison.
