Corning® HYPER Technologies: Compact Solutions for Cell Culture Scale-up

Presented by

Catherine Siler, Ph.D

About this talk

Introduction: 00:00 – 2:28 Requirements for culturing adherent cells: 2:29 – 3:43 HYPER Technology - Specifications and Performance Analysis: 3:44 - 12:31 Applications and Workflow: 12:32 – 22:56 Complementary Solutions – Single-use Systems, Custom Solutions, and Manipulator: 22:57 – 32:54 Q&A Session: 33:27 – 44:12 The scale-up process for recombinant viral vector production presents technical challenges, including optimizing cellular output within constraints of facility space and operator time. Using an ultra-thin gas-permeable film, the Corning® HYPERStack® vessel is able to provide up to 10X the growth surface area of a traditional cell culture vessel of comparable footprint. This provides an efficient, scalable cell culture vessel for adherent cell culture processes common to gene and cell therapy applications. This webinar will introduce viewers to the Corning High Yield PERformance technology platform, with attention to the following topics: •Introduction to the technical applications of the HYPERStack vessel in the fields of cell and gene therapy and viral particle production •HYPER technology background – cells and requirements for culture •The advantages of a closed system design ideal for the production of cells, protein therapeutics, vaccines, and viral vectors, including those targeting Coronavirus and COVID-19 Presenter: Dr. Catherine Siler graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Ph.D. in Biology. Dr. Siler also has several years of experience as a Bioprocess Sales Specialist with Corning, focusing on custom media and closed system solutions. Currently, Dr. Siler is part of the Field Applications team, covering the Northeast corridor and assisting customers with 3D cell culture techniques, cell and gene therapy processes, and general bioprocessing applications.
