Amping Up Yield and Enhancing Quality in Adherent Cell Culture Scale-Up

Presented by

Catherine Siler, Ph.D.

About this talk

The field of gene and cell therapy has experienced rapid growth over the past decade, and the expansion of the number of therapeutics coincides with the growth of the scale of manufacturing. Through the seed train process, manufacturing begins with a few million cells and ultimately produces billions of cells to serve patient populations. With so much material on the line, researchers face the task of minimizing risks and maximizing product quality. Closed systems in conjunction with bioreactor systems provide a controlled and monitored environment that can not only enhance cell performance, but also provide a scalable path from process development to manufacturing. This seminar will review adherent cell culture scale up with attention to the following topics: - Considerations for seed train optimization - Considerations for closed system process development and manufacturing - Adherent cell culture bioreactor systems from Corning, including the Ascent® FBR
