Several important trends point to greater demand and use of datacenters to support the growing use of technological in our work and home life. the federal government is responding by expanding its effort to help datacenter operators reduce overhead by gaining control over rising energy cost. The USEPA and Dept. of Energy have developed new tools targeted to break down key barriers to implementing efficiency efforts in datacenters, including a new ENERGY STAR rating tool to measure the efficiency of an entire datacenter, an expanded energy star server specification to gain insights into active mode efficiency and a DOE accreditation for datacenter professionals.
