A brief history of Computers - Your Data Center in 2025

Presented by

Georg Gesek, CEO, Novarion Systems Corp.

About this talk

Innovation in computer hardware is driven by the application of knowledge in physics. The progress to understand matter leads to new technologies for our data centers. But this is a non-linear process. Breakthroughs were ignited e.g. with the development of integrated circuits, leveraging the understanding of the behavior of semiconductors on a microscopic level. Now we have got aware of quantum physics as a game of information. This means radical break-throughs for our computer systems both, for hardware and software, since information is physical! Commonly understood is the fact of a classical bit, manifested as electrical potential between atoms and electrons instead of electrical currents, which provided us with non-volatile memory modules. Lately, our attention focused on the change of information within microscopic circuits themselves, which provides us with qubits, so called quantum bits. Since qubits represent pure information, we can implement them in our way to calculate from the beginning, not only in native quantum computers, but also with a novel technology, the hybrid quantum computer. This talk will get you acquainted with this new kind of computer architecture and demonstrate first implementations. In 2025, so the prediction of George Gesek, every high performance data center will run on nothing but hybrid quantum computers!
