To date, we’ve had 30+ developers fix over 700 bugs on 9 CNCF projects, and we are expanding this to globally scale - focusing specifically on the Kubernetes ecosystem in the coming months.     Deduplication and compression are techniques that have been traditionally used to reduce the amount of storage used by applications. Data encryption is table stakes for any remote storage offering and today, we have client-side and server-side encryption support by Cloud providers.

    Combining compression, encryption, and deduplication for object stores in Cloud is challenging due to the nature of overwrites and versioning, but the right strategy can save millions for an organization. We will cover some strategies for employing these techniques depending on whether an organization prefers client side or server side encryption, and discuss online and offline deduplication of objects.
    Companies such as Box, and Netflix, employ a subset of these techniques to reduce their cloud footprint and provide agility in their cloud operations.

Similarly, the lack of in-person interaction and the onset of remote working and remote education enabled more use cases such as telepresence. A lot of these changes are here to stay. Another trend with FinTech and the desire to have control over our data and privacy is putting new requirements on the network.
    With many of these applications requiring low latency, the network edge will be highly decentralized. The cloudification and decentralization will drive many changes in the rest of the network.

This decades-old paradigm of the lifecycle of data, including production, collection, and modeling of data, as well as business decisions driven by data, put increasing pressure to the current infrastructure at hand. However, recent privacy regulations in EU, USA and other parts of the world are forcing the tech industry, including IT platform designers and operators, as well as data-dependent companies, to renegotiate this paradigm and take into consideration user privacy at the design level.

    How do we consolidate the need for preserving user privacy, but still allow data-driven companies to remain relevant in the future, and continue extracting value out of these data?

    In this talk, I will focus on this seemingly impossible to solve conundrum of conflicting goals. I will dive into the realm of:
    - Privacy-preserving machine learning (PPML)
    - Report on recent advances in this area of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
    - Discuss the major tradeoffs between privacy and machine learning utility of PPML and potential adversarial attacks that can be mounted on such modeling.
    - Cover recent, peer-reviewed, published and award-winning technology that I have been building with my colleagues at Telefonica Research Labs in Barcelona.
