FCoE: Real World Applications & Uses

Presented by

Mike McNamara (FCIA Mktg Ct Chair) & Craig Carlson (Technologist)

About this talk

FCoE is the hottest emerging technology driving network convergence in the data center. FCoE has the ability to simplify data center complexities by reducing power, space, cabling and network devices. FCoE is now an industry standard and it’s compatibility with Ethernet will leverage the ubiquity, knowledge base and economics of Ethernet networks while preserving the infrastructure, strengths, and tools of the existing Fibre Channel (FC) storage management framework. From large to small enterprises, these benefits can amount to significant cost savings by delivering FC quality over Ethernet networks. Attendees will learn: • About FCoE and why it is a smart solution for data centers today. • How you can put FCoE to work in your data center to lower power, people, space, and equipment costs, without sacrificing performance. • Examples necessary to assemble and deliver compelling FCoE solutions. • Why Fibre Channel continues to be a wise investment. Presenters: Mike McNamara, FCIA Marketing Committee Chair & FC SAN Product Marketing, NetApp and Craig Carlson, Chair ANSI/INCITS Task Group T11.3, Fibre Channel Protocols & Technologist, QLogic.
