Data centres played an unquestionably key role in addressing several key challenges during the pandemic – from enabling remote work, to facilitating online education and accelerating medical innovation to speed up vaccine roll outs. With demand for digital services higher than ever, digitisation projects are driving the development of new trends and services, such as smart cities, Internet of Things, AI and 5G amongst others. This skyrocketing demand is matched by a growing demand for equipment and energy to power the rapidly expanding data centre industry. This increasing demand for IT equipment presents serious global, environmental challenges.
