Air-gapped or offline networks are an increasingly common security requirement for deployments in regulated or federal environments and sovereign clouds. Security at scale: Cost-efficient Ubuntu solutions on IBM LinuxONE and IBM Z

Linux is well known for the flexibility, interoperability, and control it offers to developers. 
Building upon years of contributions from the open source community, Ubuntu is the most widely used Linux OS among professional IoT developers, according to the 2024 State of IoT Report by Eseye. 


However, using Linux on embedded and IoT devices presents a unique set of challenges compared to servers, including maintenance complexity, security risks, and deployment at scale.
