About this talk

When working out how to allocate the financial resources of the NHS across England, there are many factors that need to be considered. The CCG allocations formula attempts to address the wide variety of issues that might impact the cost of healthcare in a given area. In addition to considering levels of need across different conditions and the demographics of a population, the formula also takes other factors into account such as deprivation, mortality rate and even unemployment. NHS England and NHS Improvement are seeking views on where changes to the allocation formula should be prioritised. Recent changes have introduced a new rationale for the use of community services based on age profiles and have refreshed the mental health element of the formula to reflect improving diagnosis and changing need. •help you to understand the complexity of the allocation process •consider the challenges that the NHS faces when trying to allocate resources fairly and equitably. •give you the opportunity to contribute to how it may change over the next year or two •let you share your views on whether there are different cost drivers that should be considered To ensure that we can keep funding HFMA events, we often involve third party organisations and may share your forename, surname, job title and organisation on request.
