Fundamentals of Defense: Basic Protections That Work!

This talk is about the fact that good fundamentals of security will block the majority of the attacks that make the "news." In fact it is well known that 96% of the attacks that occurred in 2011 were not sophisticated despite what the media and vendors tell you. By following four core principles of secure design 85% of the publicized attacks in the last several years would not have been successful. The well publicized attacks like the one against RSA that the media and of course EMC would have you believe they were highly sophisticated and inevitable when in fact they were not, and that aside there were major lapses in security with respect to these and other attacks, in this presentation i will cover solid secure strategies using Windows latest operating systems, and the talk will include a review of the "next
generation" security solutions with Windows Server 8 and although most still prefer Unix in secure designs, Windows is closing the gap!
