Best Practice in Privileged Access Management

Securing access to high-privilege accounts, especially across large numbers of systems and many types of systems -- is one of the most complex and highest risk problems in the IAM space. In a typical enterprise today, passwords to these accounts on operating systems, network devices, applications and more may be stored in documents, spreadsheets or simply known to many people. Such manual methods create vulnerabilitites (when people leave) and preclude accountability (who did what?). Moreover, system administrators accustomed to having 24x7 access are reluctant to give us such access. Auditors need to drive process improvements around privilegd access, to address risks and create accountability. This is a priority because the majority of security incidents remain linked to inappropriate actions taken by authorized insiders. This session will introduce approaches to privileged access management, focusing on challenges -- both technical and organizational -- and how to overcome them.
