Progressing through AS Sociology: tracking, assessment and exemplars

In this in-depth 90 minute briefing, Keith Milne (a highly experienced Principal Examiner and a Head of History with over 20 years teaching experience) will help you prepare for the new AS exams. He’ll provide an overview of teaching strategies for the analysis of interpretations, and primary and contemporary extracts at AS level. He’ll also discuss what skills your students will need to succeed at writing essays, including the expectations.

He’ll talk you through our approach to question setting and mark schemes. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about our forthcoming support and post questions.

Led by Natalie Starkey from Cambridge University Press, in just 30 minutes you can gain ‘administrator level’ knowledge of our intuitive resource. The webinar will help you:

•Learn to navigate the English e-Library from page one.
•Confidently explain the features and functions to colleagues
•Get equipped to plan engaging lesson, homework and revision tasks
•Understand the role of the e-Library administrator, and why you need one.

A-level Economics: term one in review

Keith Milne, Principal Moderator for the NEA and a Head of History with over 20 years teaching experience, will share his experiences of delivering the new AS and A-level History. In this two hour briefing, you'll receive guidance and practical advice on teaching the new specifications, cover strategies for handling the new demands and identify areas where support can be more effectively directed.

Teaching and managing the new AS and A-level History specifications

Government reform means that from September 2017, we won’t be able to offer GCSE Performing Arts (and neither will the other exam boards).

However, we’re looking into the possibility of developing a Technical Award in Performing Arts.

Still aimed at 14 - 16 Year olds, it will provide a stimulating alternative to the current GCSE and form part of a suite of new Technical (more vocationally focussed) qualifications.  They will count towards school performance tables and students can study up to three of them alongside their GCSEs. 
This session will give an update on the progress of the development of the Performing Arts Technical Award, and give you the opportunity to ask questions and help shape the design of the qualification.
