Shift Left Testing

In the past, most traditional test automation focused on the UI and not the back-end. This was a leftover mindset from the days of "just throw it over the wall”. With the current shift in how teams are organized, the skillset for testing is evolving. Dev/Ops, continuous delivery, mobile, cloud and the Internet of Things is forcing a rapid pace of development. Now, QA professionals and business analysts are more ingrained in the overall development process from start to finish. Now that software development for different platforms are using a “shift-left” approach (which involves moving testing to earlier in the software development lifecycle), it is requiring test automation engineers to enhance their technical skills.

Join Clint Sprauve, Senior Product Marketing Manager for HP Functional Testing, and learn about:

• API and web services testing early in the development lifecycle
• How to shift-left with non-technical testers
• Best practices for proper test automation in Agile and continuous testing processes

  • Mobility & User Experience Monitoring Apr 11 2018 7:00 am UTC 60 mins
Christian Schuertz, Business Development Manager, Application Delivery Management Software
Are you getting that mobile moment? Do you know what your users are really experiencing when using your app? Do you wonder where the bad rating comes from you got after the latest release of your app?

Mobile user experience is actually very complicated to catch and measure, it is multi-facetted. In this webinar we will cover the most important aspects of a 5-Star mobile user experience and how you can really measure and monitor it.

In a live example we will then show you how easy it is to get it done.
  • Mobility & Security Apr 3 2018 7:00 am UTC 60 mins
Christian Schuertz, Business Development Manager, Application Delivery Management Software
Security is an absolute must for any mobile application. However it is often not an integrated part of the development and testing cycle.

In this webinar we will cover the principles of how to easily integrate security into development and testing of mobile apps. In a live showcase we demonstrate how easy it is to get it to work.
  • Mobility, Function & Performance Mar 28 2018 7:00 am UTC 60 mins
Christian Schuertz, Business Development Manager, Application Delivery Management Software
Mobile Users don’t accept bad performance or dysfunctional applications and abandon bad apps with a wipe of their hand. Bad mobile applications are far more complex to test given the fragmentation of devices out there and different network conditions in real life that are difficult to simulate in development labs.

In this webinar we cover the Micro Focus approach to these issues and provide a live showcase on how to secure a stable app that exactly does what it is supposed to do.
  • Mobility, Agile Development & Continuous Testing Mar 22 2018 8:00 am UTC 60 mins
Christian Schuertz, Business Development Manager, Application Delivery Management Software
Mobile applications, agile development methods and continuous testing are solidly linked together as fast time to market is key to success. However many development departments struggle today in actually getting this to work due to lack of processes, lack of know-how and lack of integrated, open and automated toolchains.

In this webinar we will provide a perspective on how to achieve faster time to market without compromising quality and show a live example on how to get it to work. An end to end demo focused on automation and visibility.

  • Introducing StormRunner Functional - Easily Extend your Tests to the Cloud Recorded: Nov 28 2017 61 mins
Eran Bachar, Senior Product Manager and Robert Gutierrez, Solutions Architect, Micro Focus
Today’s world of testing is a marathon! Testing teams are required to test more environments and mobile devices, without damaging the quality of their applications. They are required to test much earlier in the cycle, and to provide constant visibility, enabling development teams to have a short feedback loop in order to run faster and meet the business demand. This creates a big challenge for testing teams to keep up with the rapid pace of change without compromising on quality.

In this webinar, we will introduce you to StormRunner Functional, the very first and only hybrid test execution service to support the Micro Focus testing tools with Unified Functional Testing (UFT) and UFT Pro (LeanFT), as well as the popular and open source Selenium. Learn how it can help you improve your testing and achieve faster execution times.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Leverage your existing testing assets in a variety of ways: run them remotely to utilize SRF’s on-demand virtual lab or upload them for faster parallel execution and runtime scalability
    • Create new testing assets from scratch using SRF’s online recording service for both web and mobile. This allows you to go “full-SaaS”, from test design to test execution and lab
    • Design and execute your exploratory sessions on all your apps: native, hybrid, and web apps
    • Identify and investigate the changes in your apps with SRF’s advanced root-cause analysis, and submit defects to your defect management tools

We hope you can join us for this event!
  • Managing a hybrid application development environment Recorded: Nov 21 2017 20 mins
John Falk, Solution Architect, Micro Focus & Collin Chau, Product Marketing, Micro Focus
Let’s face it. Not all enterprise applications are born for Agile delivery. Organizations will have mission critical applications that are updated infrequently and will continue using waterfall development methodologies. “Why change when it is working well?” say customers. The question then becomes – Will your businesses be able to plan/build/test/track across an enterprise application portfolio for agile and non-agile teams?

Join us in this webinar, as we talk about balancing the needs of legacy and digital first applications, and what true hybrid application development means to your complex application portfolio.
  • Managing Complexity and Scalability in the Agile Enterprise Recorded: Nov 16 2017 32 mins
    Malcolm Isaacs, Micro Focus
Businesses today are under pressure to deliver software quicker than ever before, without compromising on quality. As they strive for increased agility, parts of the organization are moving to agile development methodologies, and continuous delivery with DevOps.

We will look at how HPE Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) and ALM Octane work together with modern and legacy toolsets to provide all of the information that executives need in order to make the strategic decisions that will keep their business ahead of the competition.
  • Accelerate Application Success With Operational Efficiency Recorded: Nov 15 2017 39 mins
Amy DeMartine, Principal Analyst, Forrester and Ashish Kuthiala, Sr. Director, Micro Focus
The race is on to attract fickle customers and what we have learned from digital disruptors is that the company that delivers the great customer experience first usually wins. Application developers are developing code at ever faster speeds to create these digital experiences that have ever rising expectations.

But these new release speeds often leave the infrastructure and operations teams scrambling to adjust. This presentation discusses the findings of a January 2017 study commissioned by HPE and conducted by Forrester Consulting on the obstacles organizations face in delivering high-quality solutions at speed, and how they are overcoming them.
  • 10 Tips to Start Scaling DevOps Recorded: Nov 14 2017 59 mins
Alan Schimel, Editor-in-Chief, DevOps.com & Ashish Kuthiala, Sr. Director, Micro Focus
Many organizations have started on their DevOps transformation journey today, but only 10% have fully embraced DevOps. Is it still so new that organizations are struggling to understand it?

Change is hard, and the transformation to DevOps is hard. It flies in the face of the traditional silos:

    (1) Applications departments for the majority of the larger enterprises were in place to support their business; today they are expected to be revenue-generating, and expected to be the main way to engage with their users, including customer support; and

    (2) There were a lot of teams, processes, and infrastructure that were all set up to support the original models.

Learn how to engage with your organization to move towards a more optimal DevOps model.

Malcolm Isaacs and Petri Maanonen, HPE
If you haven’t already, we recommend you listen to the first webinar in this series, the 9-minute overview by our SVP and GM Raffi Margaliot as he introduces the three core disruptions facing application delivery teams today.

The cloud changes two main aspects of application delivery. Firstly, cloud and SaaS models change how applications are built and tested, moving from custom development to composites of on-premises and cloud APIs; and secondly, cloud economics drive development, testing, and lifecycle management tool purchase preference towards SaaS and Cloud utility models. This webinar will explore how taking the time and effort to evaluate the benefits of hybrid-cloud development and testing will ultimately pay off major dividends in cost and agility.
