HSBC IBOR Webinar Series: Progress Towards and Preparations for Transition

HSBC has launched a reporting service that provides our Securities Services clients with independent measurement of how focused their listed asset investments are on environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues.  

This new service will allow you to keep track of the ESG ratings of your large holdings, helping you to meet the increased demand for greater transparency and more insight in this area. 

The reporting service will consist of a monthly reporting dashboard, including portfolio-level analysis using ESG ratings and carbon emissions data.  It will use ESG scores and ratings from leading ESG rating providers, such as MSCI, Sustainalytics and Vigeo Eiris, and can be applied equally to specialist ESG and non-ESG portfolios.

To support the launch of this service, HSBC will host two webinars on 5 August.

The settlement discipline regime of the European Union’s Central Securities Depositories Regulation (CSDR) is scheduled to apply from 1 February 2021. Firms are entering the final lap of their preparations and testing, but several hurdles and unknowns stand in their way. Efforts are underway to resolve or work around issues including finding buy-in agents, treatment of ETFs, apparent asymmetry for buy-in compensation, buy-in reporting, new issuance, contractual settlement, and the receiving party’s requirement to put a settlement on hold.
