Ceph is a big system with lots of moving parts, and getting all of the pieces to fit together can be a chore without good tools. Thankfully, there's a new Ceph tool in town: ceph-deploy!
The ceph-deploy tool allows you to install Ceph packages on remote hosts, initialize a cluster, add and remove nodes, and tear everything down again. It was written with automation in mind, so it's easy to script.
During this session, we will create a small Ceph cluster using ceph-deploy on virtual machines. If you'd like to follow along yourself, come with a few fresh Ubuntu server VMs - chances are good that you'll leave the room with a running cluster!
Last month was another milestone for Ceph with the release of Cuttlefish (v0.61), the third stable release of Ceph.
