In today’s world of software development and IT, there is a continuous race between agility and quality. In many cases when agility wins, the result is a faster delivery with lower quality. That's why it's more important than ever to enable automation of the delivery processes in your pipeline environments. Using standardized methods will increase both the speed and quality of application releases.
Micro Focus ALM Octane enables you to deliver high quality products in an agile world, seamlessly integrating with your Agile and DevOps processes and tool chain.
Watch this live demo and:
• Learn what's new in ALM Octane and how to use ALM Octane to accelerate test cycles and launch test automation initiatives
• Discover how to use existing resources when converting to Agile
• Learn how to improve the quality and security of your deployments by using deployment automation to set up governance and stage gates in specific environments
This webinar is brought to you by the Vivit Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) Special Interest Group (SIG).
Whether you’re using waterfall, agile, or some of each, you need to be able to assign work, track progress, and make adjustments as needed. In this webinar, we’ll go over the new Team Management features in Micro Focus Product and Portfolio Management (PPM) and discuss how they fit into your existing Resource Management practice. You’ll see how the features work, hear about real use-cases, and learn:
•How to track capacity across multiple teams and projects
•How to check that you have the right roles filled for upcoming needs
•The best way to make sure you have the right balance for your strategic initiatives

Monitoring as code really is an aspect of what we term “Build to Run” where Ops works with Dev on ensuring what is being built is manageable in a production environment. This sounds natural on the face of it but really is hindered by a lot of broken siloed processes. In this webinar, our speakers will present a view on how Ops should become a business partner to development, how development needs to code towards requirements made by ops, and finally we will look at how that can be done in practice.
Join us to learn about:
•How a DevOps team sets up the monitoring
•The catalog they interface with to get the monitoring set up
•What goes on behind the scenes to make this happen
Your infrastructure may need to be upgraded at some point in time. While doing so, you may encounter some rather perplexing obstacles that you have never come across. Learn how to overcome some of these pitfalls to help move your Micro Focus COBOL into the modern age.
•See how scripting can impact your code
•Get some ideas on how to manage the performance of your system/code
For many organizations today, ALM Octane provides the single source of truth for distributed teams. Its scalable test management keeps testers and developers synchronized with granular analysis of testing progress and results, all integrated into CI/CD pipelines and agile methodologies. However, the quality of this testing remains dependent on the quality of the tests fed in and assigned to testers. Testing speed furthermore remains limited by the efficiency of that test creation. Manual, unsystematic test design and a reliance on low-coverage production data will still lead to low coverage tests. Those tests will also remain impossible to maintain in tight iterations, leaving new releases further exposed to damaging bugs. Impeccable test management instead deserves impeccable test design.
This webinar will demonstrate how model-based test generation seamlessly maintains optimized test cases and data in ALM Octane, all linked to system requirements and automation frameworks for in-sprint maintenance and test execution. You will discover a requirements-driven approach to test maintenance, in which test cases, scripts and data are maintained as quick-to-build flowcharts are updated. Powerful mathematical algorithms generate the smallest set of tests needed to “cover” the latest system logic, with “just in time” data allocation to ensure that every test has valid test data. Pushing the tests to integrated automation frameworks enables truly “Continuous Testing”, with granular run results synchronized automatically in ALM Octane.

There are some brilliantly engineered functional test automation frameworks out there, many of which use UFT (now referred to as UFT One) and LeanFT (now referred to as UFT Developer) to execute tests across hard-to-test systems. However, automating test execution alone does not guarantee testing speed or rigor. A structured and automated approach to test script and data creation is also needed to test vastly complex systems sufficiently. This webinar will demonstrate how model-based test generation can remove the bottleneck of test scripting, while identifying the smallest set of tests needed for optimal coverage. You will also see how “just in time” data provisioning finds, makes, and prepares accurate data as tests are executed in UFT One or UFT Developer. If a system component changes, test teams only need to update the central models, rigorously testing complex systems in short iterations.
Key webinar takeaways include:Formal modelling is possible in short iterations, using a range of accelerators to build models rapidly from complex systems and requirements.
•Coverage-based test design enables automated test creation for UFT One and UFT Developer, generating the smallest set of tests based on time and risk.
•Test data can be the greatest barrier to successful automation – but not if “just in time” data preparation is embedded as a standard step in automated test execution.
•Model-based test design integrates seamlessly with existing UFT One and UFT Developer frameworks, using code scanners and templates to generate bespoke code accurately.
•Modelling offers an effective technique for managing fast-changing, complex systems, breaking problems into smaller, easy-to-maintain chunks.

Vivit Virtual Customer Days (VCD) IT Operations Management (ITOM) - Cognitive Engineering – Intelligent Enterprise RPA Adoption
In the digital reality, technology is no longer just the enabler and it is what it is to be human, the ability to continuously learn and evolve. The approaches and techniques that worked yesterday, may no longer be the optimum approach for the future. Historically, human processes have been based on linear, sequential activities highly suitable to be replaced by digital engineering practices such as Intelligent Process Automation (IPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning (DL). However, robots are no longer mimicking human behaviours, but far surpassing our greatest expectations, traditional hardware and software are now becoming independent self-aware intelligent entities as they continue to journey towards the Singularity.
Organizations are investing in adopting cognitive services, these intelligent algorithms to understand and interpret your business needs through natural languages are help drive omni-channel delivery that are extremely responsive to customer sentiment. Blurring the boundaries with Cognitive & Chaos Engineering adoption becoming ever more prevalent and resilient in the face of unpredictable failure modes, whilst still being able to process huge amounts of unstructured data, embarking onto this third wave of artificial intelligence and the art of cognitive thinking.
