  • Introduction to Taxonomies for Technical Writers Jul 15 2020 5:00 pm UTC 60 mins
    Heather Hedden
As digital content grows, so do the challenges in findability, whether for specific documents/content items or for useful information/data. Printed content has relied on indexes, whereas digital content has relied on search engines, but search engines alone tends to be inadequate for the specific needs of enterprise or specialized content repository search and discovery needs. Tags, categories, keywords, or taxonomies can significantly improve search results, related content discovery, and the user experience involved. While many content management tools support some form of taxonomies, designing and creating taxonomies is left to users.

Taxonomies are controlled and structured sets of terms, including those referred to as tags or categories. This webinar explains the differences between tags and categories and between different kinds of taxonomies, especially hierarchical and faceted and when each is most suitable for different contexts. The structure and the terms of a taxonomy need to be customized for both the users and for the content. Various stakeholders need to be engaged in a taxonomy project, but the process does not need to be overly complicated. Taxonomies exist of various sizes and complexities, and similarly taxonomy creation can range from simple to complex.

Join Scott Abel, The Content Wrangler and his special guest, taxonomy expert, Heather Hedden for this free, one-hour webinar.

    • How a taxonomy enhances content findabilty
    • What are the different kinds and features taxonomies and what is likely more suitable in your situation
    • Who should be involved in the taxonomy design process
    • When to build the taxonomy yourself vs. when to hire a taxonomy consultant

Today, businesses are faced with the opportunity and challenges of unlimited space to sell products on the internet. As brands compete for shoppers in crowded marketplaces and the open web, product information and content is strategic. The brands that manage it best will have an edge.

  • Why Companies Fail (And How You Can Succeed) at Personalization Jun 18 2020 5:00 pm UTC 60 mins
    Val Swisher
Content personalization - delivering the right content, to the right person, on the right device, at the right time, in the right language - has become a corporate imperative for companies large and small. According to Infosys, 86% of consumers surveyed indicated that personalized content has some impact on what they purchase and 25% said that personalization plays a large role in their purchases.

And yet, looking at the data, two things stand out: 1) Most companies say that personalizing the customer experience is a critical “must have,” and they have the statistics to back it up. 2) Very few companies believe they are delivering enough personalized content, or deliver it well.

Join Val Swisher, CEO of Content Rules, to learn about The Personalization Paradox. What’s holding these companies back from their personalization goals? And how can you avoid the pitfalls and make your personalization possible with your own enterprise content?

In this webinar, you will learn:

    • Why personalized content is imperative to the enterprise
    • Why so many companies fail to deliver
    • The five dimensions of creating personalizable content

  • How Unifying Content Can Propel Productivity and Enable Sales Jun 17 2020 5:00 pm UTC 45 mins
    Jean Patrick and Joe Gelb
Most companies have content stored all over the place. Some of that content is made available through a documentation portal or product website; other content is delivered through corporate knowledge bases or served up inside learning management systems. This scattered approach to content hampers internal productivity, increases the risk of miscommunication and misinformation, which leads to redundancy and unnecessary costs.

To become an effective content-producing organization, you must be capable of providing unified access to all of your organization's content to whomever needs it; when, where, and how they need it. Your content needs to be available not only to prospective customers and existing clients, but also to employees, partners, regulators, and other stakeholders, so they can easily find the answers they need, when, where, and how they need them.

Join Scott Abel, the The Content Wrangler, Joe Gelb, President of Zoomin Software, and Jean Patrick, Chief Transformation Officer of Cherwell, to find out how the company unified multiple sources of content to propel productivity and help enable sales.

As a strategist, consultant and implementer, Jean leads activities within Cherwell focused on operational execution of key strategic initiatives based on priorities of the company and the CEO. As Chief Transformation Officer, Jean oversees the following teams: Strategic Initiatives, Customer Experience, Learning Services, Systems, Pricing, and Facilities. Jean arrived at Cherwell in early 2017 as the Chief of Staff, providing valuable oversight and guidance to projects of high strategic importance and leads the transformation of operational process and procedures focused on efficiency, financial impact, and business scalability.
