About this talk

Male privilege permeates every nook and cranny of society, especially the workplace. But what happens when the male privilege you enjoyed in the past is no longer part of your life? Join us for a frank discussion with Stephanie Battaglino about the role of language when communicating with, to, or about transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. Battaglino is an internationally recognized transgender motivational speaker, workshop presenter, trainer, workplace diversity and inclusion consultant whose honest and vulnerable storytelling will help you better understand the power of language and its impact. Stephanie was the first transgender person and corporate vice president to come out — on the job — in the century and a half history of the New York Life insurance company. After doing so, the glass ceiling that prevents minorities and women from advancing to leadership positions became real for her. Was she being overlooked for promotions because she is transgender? Or was it because she is a woman in the workplace? It turns out it was a bit of both. Stephanie casts a bright light on pertinent diversity and inclusion issues that companies and organizations around the globe must address to successfully transform workplaces into welcoming environments for all of their employees. Her warm and personal style will engage and enlighten you. Coffee and Content is brought to you by The Content Wrangler and Heretto.
