The cost of living crisis, including high inflation, rising interest rates and increasing energy costs is pushing many people into arrears for the first time. High inflation, utility prices, cost of living crisis and companies struggling to make the ends meet are continuing in 2023. It would mean more loans defaulting, moving to debt recovery/collection status. SME companies are getting into difficulties, as well as individuals not able to serve their mortgage and unsecured loans. In UK the very recent forecast expects 750,000 mortgages defaulting in Q1–Q2.
