The Americans With Disabilities Act: A General Overview
Jeffrey M. Raider, JD Partner, Human Resources Services C3 Group
About this talk
The Americans With Disabilities Act (“ADA”) is too often viewed by HR professionals as an obstacle in managing a work force. That can become a self-fulfilling prophecy causing you and your organization to become defensive when presented with a disabled applicant or employee. I like to view the process of managing disabilities in the work force as an “inclusive” one, allowing certain individuals to enter the work force and hopefully enhance it.
My section of the employment law summit offers you the benefit of my 25 years in HR management. While I am also an employment lawyer, I know the frustrations of seeking counsel on issues like the ADA and hearing all the things you shouldn’t do. You are in the trenches and need practical advice. I will present the mandatory legal explanations but, if you are willing to participate actively, we can spice up the 45 minutes with practical tips on handling everyday scenarios that you face at work.
