About this talk

Over half of UK senior business leaders surveyed said their diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy only pays lip service to supporting talent from underrepresented groups. Not only that, they also believe that their strategies don’t provide any helpful support in practice (Source KellyOCG). So even though we have seen companies rapidly creating various types of diversity strategies and programmes, there is a lack of follow through to ensure their effectiveness. The last couple of years have seen a large number of leaders and companies openly state their commitment to Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. These strategies, on the surface at least, seem to understand the benefits of increasing diversity and promote inclusion across their businesses, as well as their duty to do so. However, research seems to show us that despite large swathes of enthusiasm, progress in this area is slow. Why are we not seeing the progress that we would expect?
